✔️ Why should you try it?
- Juicy and tender salmon.
- Healthy.
- Quick to cook.
- Perfect for busy weeknights.
"Oh my absolutely fabulous. Tastes unbelievable." ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Christine
🥘 Ingredients
Salmon Fillets - boneless and skinless salmon portions that are roughly the same size to ensure even cooking.
Honey - a clear runny honey that can be whisked with the soy sauce is best for this recipe.
Soy Sauce - I love the saltiness of dark soy sauce, against the sweetness of the honey.
Sesame Seeds - adds a delicious crunch to the dish, but can be left out if you prefer.
Sea Salt - for seasoning!
🔪 Instructions
The recipe card with ingredient quantities and detailed instructions can be found at the bottom of the post
One: Whisk together the honey, soy sauce and a pinch of salt.
Two: Lay the salmon portions skin side down on a piece of baking paper inside your air fryer basket.
Three: Brush with half of the glaze then cook in the air fryer at 190°C (375°F) for 7 minutes.
Four: Sprinkle with the sesame seeds and drizzle over the remaining glaze and cook for a further minute or two in the air fryer.
💭 Top tips
- Preheat your air fryer to ensure the salmon starts cooking at the correct temperature straight away. Switch it on whilst you are mixing up the honey glaze.
- Make sure the salmon fillets aren't touching each other in the air fryer to ensure the sides cook evenly. Depending on how big your air fryer is, you may have to cook in batches. I easily got 4 salmon portions in my Ninja Foodi.
- If you are using frozen salmon fillets from your freezer, make sure they have fully defrosted before use. I take the salmon out of the freezer the night before and let it defrost in the fridge overnight.
- To test whether the salmon is cooked, use a fork to gently flake a piece off. If it flakes easily the salmon is done to perfection. If you have a food probe thermometer, the internal temperature is recommended to be 45-50°c (110-125F).
- Let the salmon fillets rest for 5 minutes before serving.
🍴 Serving suggestions
These tasty air fryer honey glazed salmon fillets go nicely with rice, green beans and roasted tenderstem broccoli for a quick and easy midweek meal.
I sometimes stir leftover salmon into my prawn and pea risotto at the end of cooking, for a bit of added taste and texture. It's also good in place of the bacon in my creamy boursin pasta.
If light and healthy is your thing, why not serve the salmon with halloumi couscous salad or goat cheese and beetroot salad? It's great on warm summer evenings with a glass of rose wine or a refreshing strawberry mojito!
📖 Variations
- Make it spicy by adding 1 teaspoon of chili powder to the honey glaze.
- Use different flavour glazes. How about a balsamic garlic glaze, or even a sweet chilli and lime glaze?
- Try the recipe with different fish such as tuna steaks or cod fillets. The fish must be boneless.
🥡 Storage
Store - Leftover salmon can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. Make sure it is wrapped well and placed in an air-tight container. The salmon can be eaten cold or reheated in the microwave.
Freeze - Cooked salmon can also be frozen for up to 3 months, wrapped in foil, and placed in a freezer-safe container.
