What is an air fryer?
Air fryers are small(ish) kitchen appliances that operate like a convection oven—except in a smaller, more concentrated space.
The air is circulated at a high temperature and evenly around the food, which makes the food cook more quickly than in a conventional oven and helps give foods a crispy coating without the need for lots of oil and fat.
🔪 How long to air fryer green beans
The recipe card with ingredient quantities and detailed instructions can be found at the bottom of the post
One: Preheat the air fryer to 200C (400F).
Two: Toss the green beans with the olive oil and salt in a mixing bowl and then put them into the preheated air fryer basket. Air fry for 6-8 minutes, shaking halfway.
Three: Serve with extra seasoning if required.

💭 Expert tips
- Top and tail your green beans before cooking them.
- Make sure the beans are in one layer in your air fryer basket to ensure the hot air can circulate around each bean. Depending on what size air fryer you have, you may need to air fry them in two batches.
- For a crispier crunchier bean, air fry for an additional 2 minutes.
- Larger beans may take 8-10 minutes to cook.
🍴 Serving suggestions
Serve the green beans as a side dish with your favourite family meals including bacon mac and cheese, slow cooker lamb breast, air fryer salmon, and cottage pie.
Leftovers are delicious in salads such as beetroot and goat's cheese salad and five bean salad.
They can also be eaten as a snack (air fryer green bean fries) with roasted red pepper hummus or sour cream & chive dip.
