    🛒 Ingredient notes

Ingredients for air fryer green beans.

Green Beans - fresh (not frozen) green beans (also known as French beans or string beans) that have been trimmed.

Olive Oil - use any light oil such as mild olive oil or rapeseed oil. Alternatively, use a light cooking spray to reduce the calories.

    Sea Salt - for seasoning.

🔪 How to cook green beans in air fryer

The recipe card with ingredient quantities and detailed instructions can be found at the bottom of the post

One: Preheat the air fryer to 200°C (400°F).

    Top Tips

    • Top and tail your green beans before cooking them.
    • Make sure the beans are in one layer in your air fryer basket to ensure the hot air can circulate around each bean. Depending on what size air fryer you have, you may need to air fry them in two batches.
    • For a crispier crunchier bean, air fry for an additional 2 minutes.
    • Larger beans may take 8-10 minutes to cook.

    🍴 Serving suggestions

Serve the green beans as a side dish with your favourite family meals including bacon mac and cheese, slow cooker lamb breast, air fryer salmon, and cottage pie.

Leftovers are delicious in salads such as beetroot and goat's cheese salad and five bean salad.

They can also be eaten as a snack with roasted red pepper hummus or sour cream & chive dip.

    📖 Variations

    • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes or chilli powder if you like your food hot.
    • Top with grated Parmesan cheese for a cheesy version! You might also like my air fryer broccoli Parmesan recipe.
    • Use different herbs and spices such as oregano, thyme, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, curry powder, or even smoked paprika.
    • Add a squeeze of lemon juice at the end of cooking.
    • Garnish with freshly chopped herbs such as parsley and basil.
    • Try air fryer runner beans!

    🥡 Storage

Air fryer green beans are best eaten fresh, straight out of the air fryer.

Store - Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days and either reheated or added to salads.

Reheat - Place the green beans back in the air fryer (220 °C) for 2 minutes to warm up. Alternatively, they can be reheated in the microwave.

Freeze - Not suitable for home freezing.

    ❓ Frequently asked questions

Do you need to soak green beans before cooking?

No! Fresh green beans do not need to be soaked. Just give the beans a rinse and pat dry with a paper towel before air frying.

Can I make these in the oven?

Yes, if you don't have an air fryer, simply place the beans on a lined baking tray and bake in the oven for 15 minutes at 220C.
