🛒 Ingredient notes
Nutella - or use another chocolate spread.
Biscuits - I use digestives, but you could also use shortbread. You need something that can be pulsed to fine crumbs in a food processor.
Icing Sugar (powdered sugar) - for sweetness.
Butter - melted butter helps to bind the Nutella biscuit layer together.
Chocolate - a mixture of dark and milk chocolate gives the best rich flavour for the topping. A drop of vegetable oil ensures the chocolate topping doesn't crack when cut.
🔪 How to make Nutella slices
The recipe card with ingredient quantities and detailed instructions can be found at the bottom of the post
One: Place the digestives, icing sugar and melted butter into a food processor and pulse until combined. Add the Nutella and pulse again until everything is mixed together.
Two: Press the base layer into the tin and chill whilst you make the topping.
Three: Microwave the dark chocolate, milk chocolate and vegetable oil in 30 seconds bursts until melted.
Four: Spread the melted chocolate over the top of the base layer and chill for at least 2 hours before cutting into squares.
Top Tips
- When melting the chocolate topping, use a microwave, but ensure you're stirring it often to prevent it from burning. Aim for a smooth and silky consistency.
- Don't rush the setting time in the fridge. Allow it at least 2 hours, but for best results, leave it overnight. This allows the flavours to meld together and the slices to firm up for easy cutting.
🍴 Serving suggestions
Serve the no-bake Nutella biscuit slices for snacks and at parties. They're also great for bake sales.
📖 Variations
- Experiment with various types of biscuits for the base. Oreo, shortbread, or even chocolate chip cookies can add a unique twist to the flavour.
- For an added crunch, mix in some chopped hazelnuts, almonds, or walnuts into the biscuit base or sprinkle on top of the chocolate layer before setting.
- Replace dark or milk chocolate with white chocolate for a sweeter, creamier variation.
- Drizzle a layer of salted caramel on top of the chocolate before it sets for a sweet and salty taste.
🥡 Storage
Store - the Nutella slices are quite soft in texture so it's best to store them in the fridge. They will keep for up to a week.
Freeze - Place in a freezer-safe container and freeze for up to 3 months.

Delicious Nutella biscuit slices! These were quick to make and happily I didn't need to turn on the oven today as it was so warm here. The kids enjoyed making these with me and have already asked we make the recipe again.
