    • No oven required, making them the perfect quick fix for your sweet cravings.
    • Customise the recipe to your liking:
      • Swap Nutella for your favourite spread

    • Ideal make-ahead dessert, ensuring you always have a delicious treat on hand when needed.

    🛒 Ingredient notes

Ingredients for no bake chocolate Nutella biscuit squares.

Nutella - or use another chocolate spread.

Biscuits - I use digestives, but you could also use shortbread. You need something that can be pulsed to fine crumbs in a food processor.

Icing Sugar (powdered sugar) - for sweetness.

Butter - melted butter helps to bind the Nutella biscuit layer together.

Chocolate - a mixture of dark and milk chocolate gives the best rich flavour for the topping. A drop of vegetable oil ensures the chocolate topping doesn't crack when cut.

🔪 How to make Nutella slices

The recipe card with ingredient quantities and detailed instructions can be found at the bottom of the post

One: Place the digestives, icing sugar and melted butter into a food processor and pulse until combined. Add the Nutella and pulse again until everything is mixed together.

Two: Press the base layer into the tin and chill whilst you make the topping.

Three: Microwave the dark chocolate, milk chocolate and vegetable oil in 30 seconds bursts until melted.

Four: Spread the melted chocolate over the top of the base layer and chill for at least 2 hours before cutting into squares.

    Top Tips

    • When melting the chocolate topping, use a microwave, but ensure you're stirring it often to prevent it from burning. Aim for a smooth and silky consistency.
    • Don't rush the setting time in the fridge. Allow it at least 2 hours, but for best results, leave it overnight. This allows the flavours to meld together and the slices to firm up for easy cutting.

    🍴 Serving suggestions

Serve the no-bake Nutella biscuit slices for snacks and at parties. They're also great for bake sales.

    📖 Variations

    • Experiment with various types of biscuits for the base. Oreo, shortbread, or even chocolate chip cookies can add a unique twist to the flavour.
    • For an added crunch, mix in some chopped hazelnuts, almonds, or walnuts into the biscuit base or sprinkle on top of the chocolate layer before setting.
    • Replace dark or milk chocolate with white chocolate for a sweeter, creamier variation.
    • Drizzle a layer of salted caramel on top of the chocolate before it sets for a sweet and salty taste.

    🥡 Storage

Store - the Nutella slices are quite soft in texture so it's best to store them in the fridge. They will keep for up to a week.

Freeze - Place in a freezer-safe container and freeze for up to 3 months.

    ❓ Frequently asked questions

Can I use all milk chocolate for the topping?

    Yes, you can!

How long does it take for the squares to set?

It typically takes about 2 hours for the No Bake Chocolate Nutella Squares to set in the refrigerator.

Do I have to use Nutella?

No! Any chocolate spread will work in this recipe. You could also try Biscoff spread.

Delicious Nutella biscuit slices! These were quick to make and happily I didn't need to turn on the oven today as it was so warm here. The kids enjoyed making these with me and have already asked we make the recipe again.

I've just made this and as soon as they came out of the fridge they almost disappeared! The kids (and the adults!) loved them. Such a great no-bake chocolate dessert will definitely be making these again soon!
