    🛒 Ingredient notes

Ingredients for Terry's chocolate orange cookies.

Chocolate Orange - you'll need two chocolate oranges and one bag of chocolate orange minis segments to decorate the cookies at the end of baking.

Butter - unsalted butter is best so you can control the salt content. Soften the butter first.

Sugar - a combination of golden caster sugar, light brown sugar, and demerara sugar makes the best crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside of cookies.

Egg - one large free-range egg at room temperature.

Plain Flour - white plain flour.

Cocoa Powder - for a delicious and rich chocolate tasting cookie.

    Baking Powder

    Bicarbonate of Soda

    Salt

Orange - the zest of a freshly grated orange, or use a few drops of orange extract.

Eight: Allow to cool before removing to a wire rack.

    Top Tips

    • To achieve perfectly round cookies, use a cookie scoop to portion the dough onto your baking sheet. If you don't have a cookie scoop, you can use a spoon to form the dough into balls.
    • Leave enough space between each cookie to allow for spreading during baking.
    • If you can't get hold of Terry's chocolate oranges, use a mix of milk chocolate, 70% dark chocolate and a few drops of orange extract instead.
    • If you're baking multiple trays at once, swap them around in the oven to ensure that the cookies all cook evenly.

      🍴 Serving suggestions

Arrange the cookies on a plate alongside other Christmas treats such as puff pastry mince pies and mincemeat crumble slices.

Serve the cookies with ice cream, like vanilla or orange sorbet, for a decadent dessert.

Enjoy a cookie alongside a hot cup of coffee or hot chocolate on a cold winter day.

      📖 Variations

      • Use Terry's white chocolate orange segments or a mixture of dark, milk, and white.
      • Stir dried cranberries into the dough for a festive flavour twist.
      • Make an orange-flavoured glaze to drizzle over the baked cookies.
      • Add a handful of chopped pecans for a nutty crunch.

      🥡 Storage

Store - the chocolate orange cookies can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container or cake tin for 3-4 days.

Freeze - the cookies can be frozen for up to 3 months.
