Chocolate Orange - you'll need two chocolate oranges and one bag of chocolate orange minis segments to decorate the cookies at the end of baking.
Butter - unsalted butter is best so you can control the salt content. Soften the butter first.
Sugar - a combination of golden caster sugar, light brown sugar, and demerara sugar makes the best crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside of cookies.
Egg - one large free-range egg at room temperature.

- 125 g Unsalted Butter softened
- 100 g Golden Caster Sugar
- 50 g Light Brown Sugar
- 50 g Demerara Sugar
- 1 Egg large
- 1 Orange zest only
- 220 g Plain Flour
- 30 g Cocoa Powder
- ½ teaspoon Baking Powder
- ½ teaspoon Bicarbonate of Soda
- ½ teaspoon Salt
- 314 g Terry's Chocolate Orange 2 standard Chocolate Oranges
- 28 Chocolate Orange Minis Segments 1 standard bag will be enough
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180 ℃ (160 fan/ Gas 4/ 350 ℉) and line two large baking sheets with baking paper.
- Cream together the softened butter, golden caster sugar, light brown sugar, and demerara sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.125 g Unsalted Butter, 100 g Golden Caster Sugar, 50 g Light Brown Sugar, 50 g Demerara Sugar
- Beat in the egg and orange zest.1 Egg, 1 Orange
- Fold in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda, and salt.220 g Plain Flour, 30 g Cocoa Powder, ½ teaspoon Baking Powder, ½ teaspoon Bicarbonate of Soda, ½ teaspoon Salt
- Chop the Terry's Chocolate Orange segments into small chunks.314 g Terry's Chocolate Orange
- Mix the chocolate orange pieces into the cookie dough.
- Roll the dough into walnut size balls and place on the lined baking sheets.
- Bake in a preheated oven for 10 minutes. Once they have cooled for a few minutes, place a chocolate orange minis segment on the top of each cookie.28 Chocolate Orange Minis Segments
