✔️ Why you'll love this recipe!

    1. The recipe is very simple and only requires a few basic ingredients that you've probably already got! No complex baking or cooking required.
    2. Tiffins are individually portioned bars of deliciousness that are perfect for packing into lunchboxes, taking on picnics, or serving for Afternoon tea and parties.
    3. The crunchy Oreo cookies provide a nice textural contrast to the creamy and smooth melted chocolate.

    🛒 Ingredient notes

    Ingredients for Oreo tiffin.

Oreo's and Digestives - crushed into pieces with a rolling pin, leaving some larger pieces for texture. You'll also need some whole Oreo biscuits for the top.

Butter - unsalted butter is best for tiffin.

Golden Syrup - substitute with clear runny honey if you can't get hold of golden syrup.

Chocolate - you'll need a mixture of dark chocolate and milk chocolate for the tiffin base and milk chocolate for the topping.

Cocoa Powder - adds a richer chocolate flavour to the tiffin.

Oreo Chocolate Bites - for texture and more Oreo goodness!

    Top Tips

    • Since chocolate is the star ingredient in this recipe, it's important to use good quality chocolate.
    • Add a few drops of vegetable oil to the milk chocolate topping to prevent the top from cracking when cut. Coconut oil can also be used.
    • One way to prevent any cracks is to let the tiffin rest outside the fridge for about 10 - 15 minutes before slicing it into bars. This allows it to slightly soften.
    • For neatly cut bars, use a long sharp knife for cutting, and wipe it clean with a paper towel between each cut.

    📖 Variations

    • Use different biscuits such as chocolate digestives, ginger biscuits, or Rich Tea.
    • Add 75g of chopped walnuts or pecan nuts for crunch and texture.
    • Add a few tablespoons of smooth peanut butter to the melted chocolate before mixing it in the other ingredients for a delicious peanut butter twist.
    • Add 100g of dried fruit such as raisins, chopped dried apricots, glace cherries, or dried cranberries.
    • Stir in crushed honeycomb, smarties, mini daim bars, mini eggs, chopped mars bars, or other chocolate candy.

    🥡 Storage

Store - Tiffin bars should be kept in an airtight container in a cool dry place. If the weather is very hot, store the tiffin in the fridge to stop it from melting. It will keep for up to 5 days.

Freeze - Tiffin is freezer friendly. Place the cut bars in a freezer-safe container and freeze for up to 3 months. Alternatively, wrap the whole slab in two layers of foil and freeze it as one big piece.

    ❓ Frequently asked questions

Is tiffin the same as Rocky Road?

Although tiffin and rocky road a very similar no-bake chocolate treats, the main difference is that rocky road contains marshmallows, and tiffin, traditionally, does not.

    Are Oreos vegan?

Despite the creamy center filling, the cookie contains no milk. With the exception of a few flavours that contain some animal ingredients like honey, most Oreos are vegan.

What's a good alternative to golden syrup?

If you can't find Golden Syrup, you can use honey or corn syrup as an alternative. However, do note that this will slightly alter the flavour of your Tiffin.
