    🛒 Ingredient notes

    Ingredients for chocolate cracknell recipe.

Cornflakes - I use 150g of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes for extra texture and taste, but you can also use ordinary Cornflakes or Rice Krispies instead.

Chocolate Chips - for an extra chocolatey taste. You can use milk or dark chocolate chips.

Butter - unsalted butter or block margarine.

Cocoa Powder - a good quality cocoa powder like Green & Black's.

Golden Syrup - for a sweet caramel taste. Swap for runny honey if you can't get hold of golden syrup.

Salt - a pinch of salt helps to balance out the sweetness of the chocolate and syrup.

    🔪 Instructions

The recipe card with ingredient quantities and detailed instructions can be found at the bottom of the post

One: Melt the butter, golden syrup, cocoa powder, and salt in a saucepan on a low heat. Stir often to prevent the mixture from burning.

Two: Stir in the cornflakes and chocolate chips. Mix until every cornflake is coated in chocolate.

Three: Press the mixture into a lined 20cm (8") square tin.

Four: Refrigerate for 2 hours before cutting into squares with a sharp knife.

    • Line the baking tin with baking paper or clingfilm to prevent it from sticking to the tin.
    • Make the chocolate cracknell in a round cake tin instead, or spoon into fairy cake cases for chocolate cracknell cakes.
