Cornflakes - I use 150g of Crunchy Nut Cornflakes for extra texture and taste, but you can also use ordinary Cornflakes or Rice Krispies instead.
Chocolate Chips - for an extra chocolatey taste. You can use milk or dark chocolate chips.
Butter - unsalted butter or block margarine.
Cocoa Powder - a good quality cocoa powder like Green & Black's.
Golden Syrup - for a sweet caramel taste. Swap for runny honey if you can't get hold of golden syrup.
Salt - a pinch of salt helps to balance out the sweetness of the chocolate and syrup.

One: Melt the butter, golden syrup, cocoa powder, and salt in a saucepan on a low heat. Stir often to prevent the mixture from burning.
Two: Stir in the cornflakes and chocolate chips. Mix until every cornflake is coated in chocolate.
Three: Press the mixture into a lined 20cm (8") square tin.
Four: Refrigerate for 2 hours before cutting into squares with a sharp knife.
Top Tips
- To speed up the setting process, pop the tin in your freezer for half an hour.
- Line the baking tin with baking paper or clingfilm to prevent it from sticking to the tin.
- Make the chocolate cracknell in a round cake tin instead, or spoon into fairy cake cases for chocolate cracknell cakes.

- 150 g Golden Syrup
- 80 g Butter
- 30 g Cocoa Powder
- ¼ teaspoon Salt
- 150 g Crunchy Nut Cornflakes or just use ordinary cornflakes
- 100 g Chocolate Chips milk or dark
Instructions
- Line a 20cm (8") square baking tin with baking paper or clingfilm.
- Melt the butter, golden syrup, cocoa powder, and salt in a saucepan on a low heat. Stir often to prevent the mixture from burning.150 g Golden Syrup, 80 g Butter, 30 g Cocoa Powder, ¼ teaspoon Salt
- Stir in the cornflakes and chocolate chips. Mix until every cornflake is coated in chocolate.150 g Crunchy Nut Cornflakes, 100 g Chocolate Chips
