Easy Chocolate Cracknell Recipe

Ingredients

  • 150 g Golden Syrup
  • 80 g Butter
  • 30 g Cocoa Powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • 150 g Crunchy Nut Cornflakes or just use ordinary cornflakes
  • 100 g Chocolate Chips milk or dark

Instructions

  • Line a 20cm (8") square baking tin with baking paper or clingfilm.
  • Melt the butter, golden syrup, cocoa powder, and salt in a saucepan on a low heat. Stir often to prevent the mixture from burning.
    150 g Golden Syrup, 80 g Butter, 30 g Cocoa Powder, ¼ teaspoon Salt
  • Stir in the cornflakes and chocolate chips. Mix until every cornflake is coated in chocolate.
    150 g Crunchy Nut Cornflakes, 100 g Chocolate Chips
  • Firmly press the mixture into the tin and smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Refrigerate for 1-2 hours before cutting into squares with a sharp knife.

Notes

Variations:
  • Add the zest of half an orange for chocolate orange cracknell.
  • Stir in 100g of chopped mint chocolate for mint chocolate cracknell.
  • For peanut cracknell, mix in 100g of crushed peanuts and replace 15g of golden syrup with peanut butter.
  • Stir in leftover chopped chocolates such as Quality Street!
  • Drizzle the top with melted chocolate or caramel for extra indulgence.
 
Storage:
Store - place the cracknell bars into an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 14 days.
Freeze - the chocolate cracknell can be frozen for up to 3 months.
