- Lots of delicious flavour combinations.

🛒 Ingredient notes

Pasta - use short pasta shapes such as rigatoni, penne, farfalle or fusili. Long pasta won't work in this recipe. The pasta will need to be cooked to al dente.
Olive Oil - one tablespoon is needed to coat the pasta, which is a lot less than deep frying.
Parmesan - finely grated. Or use a vegetarian-friendly hard cheese.
Seasonings - garlic powder, dried oregano, and dried thyme. Salt and pepper are added at the end of air frying.
🥄 Equipment
Which air fryer? I use the Ninja Foodi 5.8 litre Grill and Air Fryer with 4 customisable cooking functions including air fry, roast, bake, and dehydrate!
What is an air fryer?
Air fryers are small(ish) kitchen appliances that operate like a convection oven—except in a smaller, more concentrated space.
The air is circulated at a high temperature and evenly around the food, which makes the food cook more quickly than in a conventional oven and helps give foods a crispy coating without the need for lots of oil and fat.
🔪 Instructions
The recipe card with ingredient quantities and detailed instructions can be found at the bottom of the post
One: Bring a large pan of salted water to the boil and cook the pasta to al dente. This usually means 1-2 minutes less than the specified cooking time on the packet. Drain, rinse under cold water, and pat dry.
Two: Place the cooked pasta in a large bowl and mix in the grated parmesan, garlic powder, dried oregano, and dried thyme.
Three: Air fry at 200c (400F) for 10 minutes until golden and crispy, making sure the pasta chips are in one single layer in the air fryer basket. Shake halfway through cooking to make sure all sides are equally golden and crunchy. Remove the pasta to a plate lined with a paper towel to get rid of any excess oil.
Four: Season with salt and pepper before serving.

💭 Expert tips
- To ensure the pasta doesn't stick to the air fryer basket, give the base a quick spray of light cooking oil before using.
- Spread the pasta shapes out so that they are in one layer. You want the air to be able to circulate around each chip. You may need to air fry them in several batches, depending on the size of your air fryer basket.
🍴 Serving suggestions
Serve the pasta chips as a snack with your favourite dips. Moroccan hummus, whipped feta dip, air fryer baked camembert, and creamy garlic & herb are favourites with my kids. Salsa is nice too.

🥡 Storage
Store: Place leftover pasta chips in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
Reheat: Air fry the pasta chips for 2 minutes at 200 degrees C in a preheated air fryer. They can also be eaten cold or at room temperature.
Freeze: Not suitable for home freezing.

❓ Frequently asked questions
You can but they will not turn out quite as crispy. You will also need to increase the oil to 2 tablespoons.
No, because the pasta is cooked first and then fried in the air fryer. The texture is somewhere between crispy and chewy!
Yes! Just cook it to al dente as you would with normal pasta.
