Homemade air fryer chips are so easy and quick to make. Crispy on the outside with a tender fluffy middle, they taste so much nicer than oven-baked chips!
Peel the potatoes and cut them into chips (about 1.5 cm thick) with a crinkle cutter or sharp knife.
700 g White Potatoes
Place the cut chips in a colander and rinse under cold running water for 1 minute. This helps to remove any excess starch. Pat dry with paper towels or a tea towel.
Once the chips are dry, spray them with the fry light, olive oil spray, or coat thoroughly in olive oil. Season with salt.
1 teaspoon Salt, 3 teaspoon Olive Oil Spray
Place the chips in the air fryer basket and cook at 200C (400F) for 20-25 minutes until golden and crispy. Shake every 5 minutes. Season with more salt before serving.
Notes
Expert Tips:
Make sure the chips are cut roughly the same size so they all cook evenly in the air fryer.
After rinsing, make sure the chips are thoroughly dry before air frying, otherwise, they will steam and go soggy!
Preheat your air fryer before cooking.
Don't overfill the air fryer basket. It's best if the chips are in a single layer. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to air fry them in two batches.
Variations:
Change the seasonings! Paprika, garlic powder, curry powder, and Cajun seasoning all work well.
Cook frozen French fries in your air fryer for an ultra-quick snack.
Storage:Store - Air fryer chips are best eaten fresh. They can go soggy if left too long. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge and reheat them in the air fryer for 3-4 minutes at 200C to allow them to crisp up.Freeze - Not suitable for freezing.Nutrition:The nutritional information provided is approximate and is calculated using online tools.
