  • Saucepan
  • 20 cm (8'') Square Baking Tin

Ingredients

  • 150 g Golden Syrup

Instructions

  • Line a 20cm (8") square baking tin with baking paper or clingfilm.

    150 g Crunchy Nut Cornflakes, 100 g Chocolate Chips
  • Firmly press the mixture into the tin and smooth the top with a spatula.
  • Refrigerate for 1-2 hours before cutting into squares with a sharp knife.

Notes

Expert Tips:
  • To speed up the setting process, pop the tin in your freezer for half an hour.
  • Line the baking tin with baking paper or clingfilm to prevent it from sticking to the tin.
  • Make the chocolate cracknell in a round cake tin instead, or spoon into fairy cake cases for chocolate cracknell cakes.

Variations:
  • Add the zest of half an orange for chocolate orange cracknell.
  • Stir in 100g of chopped mint chocolate for mint chocolate cracknell.
  • For peanut cracknell, mix in 100g of crushed peanuts and replace 15g of golden syrup with peanut butter.
  • Stir in leftover chopped chocolates such as Quality Street!
  • Drizzle the top with melted chocolate or caramel for extra indulgence.

Storage:
Store - place the cracknell bars into an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 14 days.
Freeze - the chocolate cracknell can be frozen for up to 3 months.
