Notes

Expert Tips:
  • You can cook the apples in the oven if you don't have an air fryer - 180C/ 350F for 20 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden and crisp.
  • You can use any apple, but try to use fresh firm ones that won't disintegrate on cooking.
  • If you find that the top is getting too brown, then cover the top with foil. Foil is completely safe to use in an air fryer.
  • Make the apples in your instant pot or pressure cooker instead!

Variations:
  • Make healthy baked apples and leave out the brown sugar from the topping.
  • Swap the oats for crushed cornflakes or granola.
  • Use ground almonds instead of plain flour.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg as well as cinnamon.
  • Add chopped nuts to the crumble topping. Pecan nuts or walnuts would both work well.

Storage:
Store - Store leftover baked apples in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
Reheat - In the air fryer for 3-4 minutes, or in a hot oven.
Freeze - The air fryer baked apples are not suitable for freezing.
