Equipment

  • Kitchen Scales
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Wooden Spoon
  • Air Fryer
  • Shallow 20cm Square Baking Tin

Ingredients

  • 370 g Nutella
  • 2 Eggs large
  • 60 g Plain Flour
  • 10 g Cocoa Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 100 g Chocolate Chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the air fryer to 180°C (350F) and grease and line a suitably sized baking pan (I use a 20cm (8") square shallow tin) with nonstick parchment paper.
  • Mix together the Nutella and eggs in a large mixing bowl until you achieve a smooth batter.
    370 g Nutella, 2 Eggs
  • Fold in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt, and then mix in the chocolate chips.
    60 g Plain Flour, 10 g Cocoa Powder, ½ teaspoon Salt, 100 g Chocolate Chips
  • Spoon the brownie batter into your tin (I find it's best to put the baking tin in the air fryer basket before switching it on to preheat) and air fry for 15-18 minutes.
Pro Tip - If you are using a different size pan, the cooking times may vary. You want the middle to be just set but still have the slightest wobble, with a glossy crisp top. Start checking for doneness after 14 minutes, but they might take up to 20 minutes.
  • Place the brownie tin on a wire rack to cool, then pop it in the fridge for 3-4 hours to firm up (or the freezer for 2 hours), before cutting the brownies into squares.

Notes

Expert Tips:
  • If the Nutella is quite stiff, soften it in the microwave for 10 seconds.
  • It's best to use room-temperature eggs, as they will mix better with the other ingredients and will result in a more evenly textured brownie. So, if you keep your eggs in the fridge, make sure you take them out at least an hour before you start baking.
  • Avoid opening the air fryer too often during cooking, as this can affect the temperature and cooking time. Only check the brownies for doneness once or twice during cooking.

Variations:
  • Add a swirl of smooth and creamy peanut butter or sweet biscoff spread through the batter before baking.
  • Use peanut butter chips instead of chocolate chips.
  • Mix in a handful of chopped nuts for texture.
  • Add dried fruit such as raisins or cranberries for extra sweetness.
  • Boost the flavour with a teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  • Add a tablespoon of dark brown sugar for extra sweetness.

Storage:
Store - Once cool, store the air fryer brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
Freeze - Allow the brownies to cool completely, then place them in a freezer-safe container and freeze for up to 3 months, Defrost for 1 hour before serving.
